Village of Rosseau

Step back in time for day
in the village of Rosseau

Picture tree lined back streets, with sidewalks of your childhood, lovely clapboard, turn of the century homes, towering pine trees & enough things to do to lose yourself for a day. In season, the lilac bloom gives off that aroma of 'remembering' and as summer progresses, the lazy hazy days just blend in to one another.

Two hours north of Toronto, find yourself discovering the village of Rosseau. Perched on Hwy 141, at the intersecting roads of 632 from Port Carling, Aspdin Road from Huntsville and 141 from Parry Sound, overlooking Rosseau harbour and picturesque North Lake Rosseau.

There are two wonderful restaurants on the main road that serve fare you will love. Reservations are necessary at both places. One is the smaller Cottage Law Canteen, with its veranda and outdoor/indoor seating and the other is the larger Crossroads, again offering indoor/outdoor seating for a much larger crowd, and serves food all day and evening. Be sure to reserve as tables book up quickly.

Take refuge at the at the beach where there is a playground and picnic area, along with a Government dock, great for jumping into the warm waters of Lake Rosseau.

But watch out, every Friday morning in July & August, the Rosseau Market (9am to 2pm ) takes over and the harbour is a buzz with local artisans, food stalls, fresh veggies and musical entertainment. This place is as busy as kids' day at the Ex on Fridays and can simply be described as a wonderful 'harbour' party/shopping adventure.

The village is small, but every where you turn, you are treated to an escape from modern day living, giving yourself a chance to slow down and smell the roses, and turn off your phone.
