Sandra Davies

Born in Toronto, Sandra has lived in the West Indies, Montreal, Kingston, ON and currently resides in Oro-Medonte.

Her art career began in the early 80's at Arts Tremblant, where she participated over a period of several years in intensive workshops with Charles Movalli, Frank Webb, Skip Lawrence, Don Stone and Brian Atteyo.

At St Lawrence College in Brockville, Sandra studied at speciality workshops with Alex Powers, Carol Barnes and Lila Lewis Irving. She considers a workshop in Florida with Virginia Cobb as the one which inspired her use of mixed media and paste etc.  She describes her creative process as beginning with an idea, images and shapes which pop into her head spontaneously and which take on a form as she works.

A recipient of the AWARD OF EXCELLENCE at the 68th Annual juried members show at the prestigious Daytona Beach Art Gallery, Sandra's paintings have also been in juried exhibitions in Kingston, Brockville, Gananoque and Orillia.  A member, past show chair and past President of the Thousand Islands Fine Art Association, painting of Jones Falls was selected by Parks Canada to be included in their permanent collection.


Sandra was one of the core artists with Studio 22 Open Gallery in Kingston.  Her solo exhibitions include "Art in Harmony", Kingston; "Lilacs and Limestone", Kingston; "Music in the Air" and it showcased a series of 20 original paintings with a musical theme as a fundraiser for the Kingston Symphony and were exhibited at the opening reception for the newly renovated Grand Theatre in that city.

Since making Oro-Medonte her home, Sandra has exhibited at the International Women's Day Art Show at the Art and History Museum from 2010.  She has participated in the Oro-Medonte Artisan tour in "the White House' for several years and has shown her work during the Orillia Jazz Festival.

Sandra's paintings have been purchased for private and corporate collections internationally, in Canada, the USA, the UK, Germany and the Orient.
