Jessica Vergeer

Jessica Vergeer is a fashion designer and artist based in the Parry Sound/Muskoka region of Ontario.  Born in southwestern Ontario, her love for textiles led Jessica to Canada's east coast where she enrolled at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree.

After finishing her studies at NSCAD, Jessica moved to Toronto to pursue a career in Fashion and loved every minute of it!  In 2004 she made a radical switch and moved to the beautiful backwoods of the near near.  It was here that the stunning landscapes of the area inspired her to expand her horizons and take up painting in earnest.

In a tribute to her upbringing on a tobacco farm, many of Jessica's painting are framed in tobacco slats - wood that has been kiln dried hundreds of times, weathered, textured via the drying process.  The unique character of this wood adds a distinctive touch to each of Jessica's paintings.

Today, Jessica runs a successful studio out of her home.  She is a member of Artists Round the Sound, and sells her work at markets, shows and exhibitions through the Parry Sound/Muskoka region.
